When you are in the celebrity spotlight as much as the Kardashian sisters, it is no surprise that you would opt for a bit of cosmetic touch-up. Over the last couple years the sisters have made no secret in letting the world know (and even watch) their love for laser hair removal treatments. The sentiment was reinforced once again this week when Kim Kardashian, arguably the more famous of the three Kardasian sisters, sat down with Oprah in a two-part sit-down chat about life and image.
Kardashian modestly says that she does not think she is beautiful, but she does think she is ‘pretty’ and that she has to work hard for her appearance.
“It’s a job. Gym every day. I’ve lasered everything,” says Kim in an interview clip featured on Daily Mail.
We can only assume that by lasering everything, Kim means everything!
Hair removal has become popular for both men and women, but especially with women who, over the last several decades have been on the mad quest to attain smooth skin from head to toe. First it was shaving, which only led to itchy stubble and sometimes ingrown hairs. Then waxing became quite popular and accessible. Now, it’s laser hair removal.
The fallacy for both waxing and laser removal is that it permanently removes your hair. Not true. In fact, the goal in laser hair removal is to permanently reduce hair and it may give a patient some level of discomfort. The practitioner uses a laser device over the area to be treated, but because individual hair follicles grow at different stages, not all hairs can be targeted at the same time. Several treatments are needed spaced apart by 4-8 weeks.
The great thing, though, is that almost any area of the face and body can be treated. The treated hairs will shed 10-14 days after treatment where after the client will be smooth for a couple of weeks until another treatment is needed. While laser hair removal is an effective treatment, it is also long term process.
