Good Surgeon Guide

Details about Breast Implants

Breast implants also known as breast enlargement, mammoplasty enlargement, breast augmentation, augmentation mammoplasty, or the slang term boob job. Breast enlargement surgery is the most common type of plastic surgery in the world, followed by the nose job and liposuction; this means that the price of a boob job is becoming increasingly more competitive.

Breast Enlargement Procedure

Breast augmentation surgery is usually preformed to increase size, shape and dimension of the breast and is achieved by inserting a saline or silicon filled implant under the breast tissue.

Breast augmentation surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic and will take approximately 1-1 ½ hours. An incision of approximately an inch is made underneath the breast. The incision can also be around the lower edge of the areola, the skin surrounding the nipple. It may also be within the armpit. Once the incision is made, a pocket is created into which the implant is inserted. This pocket is made either directly behind the pectoral muscle or the breast tissue.

Pictures of breast surgery before and after will show how drastic the changes can be.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Post surgery the patient is able to return home sometimes with only some slight discomfort however rest at this point is completely necessary in order to maximise healing of the breast tissue, if the sutures are damaged or displaces by and harsh movement it can delay the healing process and can also affect the results when healed.
