Details about Breast Nipple Correction

Enlarged or extended nipples are a common result of result of breastfeeding. Many women never address this problem as it is such an intimate part of their body. It is perfectly normal for women to have extended nipples after breast feeding, the procedure to correct this problem is called nipple reduction.

Nipple Reduction Surgery

The nipple reduction surgery takes place under local anaesthesia and the surgery leaves no visible scars. Sometimes part of the milk ducts can be lost. So breast feeding again after the surgery may not be a possibility but if your practitioner is warned then they may be able to take extra care not to damage the milk ducts, but in doing this the results can be hindered.

Correction of inverted nipples depends on the patient, commonly inverted nipple surgery can be done under local anaesthesia as an outpatient. Stitches are placed to hold the nipple in the correct position until it heals. Sometimes the milk ducts have to be severed to release tension on the nipple but this is highly unusual.

This type of surgery can take around 30 minutes to complete and around 2 weeks to heal, afterwards the patient can expect to have a confidence boost and are pleased with the results so long as the expectations are realistic.
