Details about Cerec

Cerec is a revolutionary computer system that enables the dentist to design make and fit a false tooth, crown or veneer in a single sitting at his dental surgery as previously the crown or tooth being made would be sent away to a dental lab and could take up to two weeks.

The way that this technology works is firstly instead of using dental putty to get the correct form of a patients gums and teeth a 3d image is taken and is then transformed into a computerised model of a mouth in the cerec database. The new tooth is then made onsite by a specialised milling machine which shapes your new tooth to fit from a high-quality ceramic block. The milling machine can take from as little as 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of the tooth.

The ceramic comes in a wide variety of colours and shades, the tooth will be selected to match your surrounding teeth. Once the crown or veneer has been milled, the dentist may stain it to match your natural teeth. Your new tooth will then be cemented into place and the treatment complete in a fraction of the normal time.
