Details about Facial Implants

Facial implants are a cosmetic surgery procedure commonly used to balance out disproportionate facial features, strengthen a weak jaw line, or accentuate your cheekbones to create a more youthful or chiselled appearance. A weakened jaw line, or the appearance of reduced bone structure, can be improved with facial implants.

The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes to one hour to perform and may be performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia depending on the patient. Typically the patient can return home the same day, though sometimes an overnight stay at the hospital may be needed.

The facial implant procedure varies depending on the type of implant, the most common facial implants are chin, cheek, or jaw implants. You may need more than one type of implant to achieve the results you're looking for.

The surgery is performed by making an incision into the necessary place depending on the type of implant a pocket is then made for the implant to be inserted into. The face is then stitched and bandaged to reduce swelling and discomfort. Typically the healing process takes six to eight weeks.
