Pro Lipo is a technique carried out to remove unwanted pockets of fat. The procedure can be carried out on many areas of the body including the cheeks, thighs and abdomen. • People should be aware that it is intended to remove fat that no amount of excercising or dieting will shift, it is not a weight loss alternative. • Dilute local anaesthetic solution containing epeneprine will be injected into the areas of fat which the surgeon is going to target. • A cannula, thin tube, will then be fitted and a laser will be fired down it. The fat cells absorb the laser light, this destroys them, the fat will then be suctioned away. • The procedure can take up to 4 hours depending how much fat you are having removed. The skin also produces skin tightening which will further enhance the area. • After surgery the area may be swollen and painful, patients will be asked to wear a compression garment to control this and to speed up the healing process. Multiple treatments may be required depending on how much fat there is to remove but they will generally be spread about 6 months apart.
