Possibly the first visible sign of ageing is the loss of fat from the lips! And you know what that means!! – Lips that are small, slim and non appealing. Silicon 1000 is a filler which can be used for lip augmentation. • A local anaesthetic is firstly offered then the clear silicone gel will be injected into the lips. After the treatment the lips may be slightly swollen and sore. • Although Silikon 1000 may seem like an attractive option there are risks, the silicone can migrate to other parts of the body, inflammation may occur and most importantly Silikon 1000 is not approved by the FDA for cosmetic purposes, it is extremely difficult to remove from the body if problems do occur. Silikon 1000 is however approved by the FDA for usage in retinal reattachment. The high surface tension allows Silikon 1000 surgical oil to seal retinal breaks and prevent slippage and folding of retinal tears by exerting a counteractive force against the reattached retina.
