A popular way to remove unwanted pockets of fat that cant be shifted by excercising or diet used to be liposuction. However liposuction was seen as quite an invasive procedure which required a long recovery time, so as other options become avaliable it is becoming less popular. Smart Lipo is carried out under local anaesthetic and the results will be visible in about a week. The procedure is suitable for both men and women and can be performed on many areas of the body including the abdomen and thighs. A local anaesthetic is applied to the area, a cannula or thin tube, is then inserted under the skin, then an optic fibre is guided in. Laser energy is then delivered down the optic fibre and melts the fat cells. A suction machine is then used to remove the melted fat cells from the body. Unlike in traditional liposuction only the fat cells are targeted so no healthy cells are lost. The laser also stimulates collagen production, this tightens the skin over the area and firms it. Smart lipo is cheaper than traditional liposuction as you only require a local anaesthetic and no overnight stay in hospital is required. You should be up and about again within a few days and the area should heal in most cases without scarring.
