Details about Surgical Face lift

During the ageing process our skin looses its elasticity and sags, this creates folds and lines. A facelift aims to reverse this ageing process by lifting up the facial skin and underlying muscles, it makes the skin tighter and helps you to regain a more youthful appearance. • There are different facelifts that are available, you can have all the face lifted or just particular parts of it. You can expect the results to last for 7 to 10 years as your face will continue to naturally age and sag. • A facelift can take up to 6 hours, for a procedure of this length you are required to have a general anaesthetic and are therefore required to stay in hospital overnight for observation. • In a surgical facelift, the surgeon will make a cut in your hairline, down past the front of your ears and then up into the hairline again behind the ears. • Cuts may also be made under your chin if you have a sagging jaw line. • The skin is separated form the underlying tissue and the excess fat is removed and the muscles tightened. After the surgery your face will be swollen and painful, you may like to apply a bag of frozen peas for example to ease the pain.
